About the event
This is a paid-for event open to association members only.
Course tutor and master skep maker and beekeeper Chris Park will guide you through the process and answer all your questions about making and using skeps. You will leave with about half of your skep done, and with all the tools, materials and skills to finish it. Traditional bee skeps, were used back in the day to keep bees in, before the beehive was invented. A few beekeepers still keep bees in skeps today, although these days, they are mostly used for collecting swarms of bees and for decoration in the home or garden. Some people have also had success with providing the skeps as a home for certain species of bumble bee. The cost for the day is £80 and includes all materials. Places are strictly limited to 10 only. If you would like to book a place, please go to our website at Members | Cardiff Beekeepers if you have already joined our association or Joining | Cardiff Beekeepers if you need to join our association first
All materials are provided as well as tea and coffee. Participants will need to provide their own lunch.
